Londonderry, NH — Aviation Museum of New Hampshire docent Tom Quail, a Bedford resident and longtime pilot, invites fellow airplane enthusiasts to visit the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire, 27 Navigator Road in Londonderry, at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11.

That day, “Flying the Idaho Back Country,” one of a series of Second Saturday @ Museum events, will be presented by flyer Bob Hough, who will share a high-def video adventurous tour of remote airstrips nestled in the mountainous country of this western state.

Quail and Jack Ferns, executive director of the museum, concur in saying visitors will feel as though they are in the cockpit with Hough, thanks to a high-def camera mounted on the wing of the airplane.

Hough and his nephew show landings and takeoffs to and from places that most pilots wouldn’t consider capable of supporting flight operations for kites, much less powered aircraft.

And yet, here they are, swooping into these off-the-trail air strips, little known wonders that are landmarks to old-timers and newcomers in the know.
