Chennault Aviation and Military Museum Director Nell Calloway shows a robe on display to Col. Shou-Jung 'Duke' Ku during his visit Tuesday. Zack Southwell/The News-StarMonroe, LA — The Chennault Aviation and Military Museum received a visit Tuesday from someone who wanted to know more about the museum’s namesake.

Col. Shou-Jung “Duke” Ku, air attache of the Taiwan Embassy in Washington D.C., was given a personal tour of the museum by Nell Calloway, director of the museum and Gen. Claire Lee Chennault’s granddaughter.

Ku said he hoped to learn a lot about the general.

“We only have a few details about Gen. Chennault,” Ku said. “So this is the place to go.”

Constitutionally, the Republic of China government, based on Taiwan, has claimed sovereignty over all of China in a definition that includes mainland China, as well as Taiwan. The mainland of China, however, now is controlled by the Communist Party of China and is known as the People’s Republic of China.
