Culture and Heritage Commission Supports Aviation Museum

Lower Township, NJ — Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum has received funding through the 2013 Cape May County Arts Regrant program. The support will assist the museum’s efforts in producing a night of education titled “Sounds of the 40s: Music That Moved a Nation.” The night will highlight the sounds of a 14 piece Big Band, Walt Wagner and the Serenaders and a dance demonstration and instruction by professional dance teacher, Tom Cupp. Undeniably, the Swing Era embraces one of the world’s most historical events of this century – World War II. Throughout those tremendous events, the music of the 40’s had an effect on everyone by raising the spirits of the people on the home front and keeping morale up. The evening is designed to serve as a tribute to pride and patriotism of the 1940’s while honoring veterans who served our great nation. The USO style dance and concert will be held at the Aviation Museum Sept. 21, 2013 from 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. (tickets required). NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum will also have a concert during the 17th Annual AirFest, preformed on Aug. 31 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. by Bob Ferris and the Swingtimers Trio.
