Hebei Province, China — A Hebei farmer in his sixties who’s been collecting aviation-related items and occupying an area of over 6,000 square meters for 30 years became a big shot in his local village when he decided to use the space to open up his own aviation museum, China Youth Daily reports.
The farmer, surnamed Zhang, longed to be a pilot when he was little. While he never did see his dream fulfilled, he got a chance to learn more about flying and aviation items in the 1970s, and began his own collection. After accumulating enough items, he built this small aviation collection museum.
In 30 years, Zhang has collected over 100,000 pieces of aviation equipment, including airplane models, engines, meters, gyroscopes, flight suits and helmets, around 2,000 books and 20 different types of aircraft.
The 6,000-square-meter aviation museum has been known as the local base of patriotism and national defense education.
