JBLM-McChord Field, WA — In late July, McChord Heritage Center Administrator Ray Jordan confirmed that the Museum will acquire a Kaman H-43A Huskie from the Museum of Aviation at Robbins AFB GA. The HH-43 was one of 32 aircraft the Georgia Based museum inventory that will be moved to other museums, put into storage, or scrapped. As a part of the Local Base Rescue detachment at McChord AFB, Huskies provided rescue and recovery and search and rescue assistance within a for 75 nautical mile radius of the Base involving Airmen and Civilians of Western Washington from 1961 through 1972.
The HH-43 will is expected to arrive to McChord in mid September aboard a 62d AW C-17 return flight from depot maintenance at Warner Robins Air Logistics Center.
