Of the 19 attractions listed, Lower Township hosts the NAS Museum, Historic Cold Spring Village, Cape May Light House, and the World War II Fire Control Tower No. 23.

Earlier this year, Lower’s Sunset Beach was named among the top 25 beaches in the United States by Trip Advisor. Trip Advisor is an internet travel site claiming more than 1.3 million users.

The museum’s combination of aircraft displays and military memorabilia, combined with its programming and interactive displays, featured in many comments posted on the website. Of the 113 reviews posted online, 68 rated the attraction as “excellent” and 42 called it “very good.”

“My grandsons and I enjoy the large number of restored Navy and Coast Guard aircraft – from a 1940 Stemen to a 2004 Tomcat,” posted Larry B., a visitor to the area from Cumberland, Md.

Another, Tracy M. of Summit, Pennsylvania, posted: “NAS was a great thing for us to do on a cloudy beach day.”

Museum deputy director Bruce Fournier said that the museum had over 30,000 visitors last year, not including special events such as the annual “American Pride” weekend.

“Once we get people here, they are thrilled,” he said, noting that the museum has offered “combination and reciprocal” discounts with nearby businesses, such as the Flight Deck restaurant and Cape May Brewing Co, both located at the airport, as well as the Forgotten Warriors Museum just across the street.

The Forgotten Warriors museum hosts a large collection of memorabilia, most donated by local veterans, from the Korean and Vietnam wars.
