Pensacola, FL —  The National Naval Aviation Museum has reopened on Mondays starting today.

The museum at Pensacola Naval Air Station began closing on Mondays in early July as a cost-cutting move related to the mandatory federal spending reductions known as sequestration.

Federal civilian employees, including those in management at the museum, were required to take 11 furlough days off without pay through the summer and early fall as the Department of Defense’s response to the budget cuts. But earlier this month the Pentagon said it had found other alternatives to save money and reduced the number of furlough days to six, which many of the affected workers already have taken.
