The Project Director, Seven Wonders of Nigeria, a tourism company, Mr Ikechi Uko yesterday said that the company would build an aviation museum in Nigeria to showcase abandoned airplanes.
Uko, a tourism expert, made the announcement in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
He explained that the museum would be in form of a warehouse that would display disused aircraft.
“This museum will fit properly with the transformation agenda of the federal government and leave a lasting legacy on ground.
“The idea is to grow national pride and generate tourism income,” he said.
Uko said that the museum would be the first of it is kind in the West African sub-region, attract tourists and educate and empower a new generation of aviators.
“Instead of destroying the aircraft they can be put to beneficial use in educating the youths and drawing tourism income,” he said.
