Manchester, UK — It may have survived the D-Day landings, but a WWII plane was broken down into smaller pieces so it could be transported from the Museum of Science and Industry to a London museum.

The Spitfire, which arrived at the Liverpool Road venue 19 years ago, was seen without its wings and propeller as it was hauled out of MOSI by crane.

The iconic WWII plane, which has been a popular attraction in the “Air and Space” hall since 1995, is off to the RAF Museum, in Hendon, for a special exhibition called “Britain From Above”.
