WEATHERFORD, OK — Another piece of NASA history will go on display in Weatherford. The Stafford Air and Space Museum acquired a simulator used for Space Shuttle missions. It should be ready for display at the beginning of next year.
“It’s as close as you can get to having a real shuttle,” museum curator Chaney Larsen said.
The FBS, or Fixed-Based Simulator, was installed at the Johnson Space Center in Houston during the shuttle program. “All 145 crews trained in the simulator right here and it’s just an incredible piece with so much history and we’re excited to have it here,” Larsen said.
