Arlington, VA — The 2014 Mutual Concerns of Air and Space Museums in underway this weekend in Arlington Virginia. The conference is hosted by the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The conference provides venue for air and space museums to come together and network, learn and share among others in the community.
This year’s opening plenary session covered the recovery and conservation of the Dornier Do 17 recovered was presented by Ian Thursk, Head of Collections at the RAF Museum and covered topics such as the actual raising of the relic as well as many of the processes involved in conservation.
Other conference sessions cover topics such as leveraging social media, crowdsourcing (connecting with the community), practical photography in the museum environment, and preparing for arrival of aircraft and/or aircraft.
The conference is an annual event held each spring alternating between the east and west coast.
