Rome, GA — Floyd County’s contributions to the advancement and celebration of flight will be part of a new permanent exhibition at Richard B. Russell Regional Airport thanks to the TigerFlight Foundation.

David Wright, the group’s president and CEO, gave an update on the TigerFlight Aviation Museum, Motivation and Science Center to the Floyd County Airport Commission on Tuesday.

The center, which will be housed inside the foundation’s hangar, is scheduled to include special displays, a World War II-style briefing room, and a working WW II aircraft.

“Things are coming along and our goal is to have at least part of it up by the time the air show comes around in October,” Wright said, referring to the Wings Over North Georgia air show on Oct. 12-13.

One wall of the hangar will contain 20 to 25 display cases, each one featuring an aviator associated with Rome and Floyd County.
