Ontario, Canada — The wreckage of a Second World War plane that disappeared roughly 70 years ago is being hauled out of Ontario’s Lake Muskoka this week.
The December 1940 crash killed Lt. Peter Campbell and Leading Aircraftsman Theodore (Ted) Bates. The remains of the two men have already been recovered and laid to rest with full military honours.
The wreckage of the plane, a Northrop A-17 Nomad, will eventually be put on public display. The military says it expects the full salvage operation to take about 10 days.
