Allentown, PA  — The second annual Lehigh Valley Airshow was held this past weekend at the Lehigh Valley International Airport in Allentown PA. The featured top-notch airshow performers including the show opening Misty Blues (all female skydiving team), solo and team aerobatic performances by the 4CE aerobatic team, the world’s only privately owned Hawker Sea Fury and an abbreviated display from the Black Diamond Jet Team.

The show catered to all ages and interests by including a kids play area that included a bouncy house and other kid friendly rides. Vintage and muscle cars were also on display along with a few vintage and unique aircraft. Visitors could tour a FedEx Boeing 757 cargo jet as well as a Mirage private jet.  For more adventurous rides we available (for a fee) in the Disabled Veterans of America’s WWII era B-25 bomber “Ponchito”.  Static display aircraft were a little sparse but this could be due to the airshow’s young age.

Visitors were hard-pressed to go hungry with the wide variety of food vendors. There were also all sorts of vendors selling a whole host of souvenirs. And unlike some venues, there were plenty of porta-johns on site.

Some kinks still need to be worked out by the traffic control at the end of show. Finally, the promised media credentials never arrived and when we spoke with others we discovered that this was a common problem.

Overall this a great family event that will hopefully get better year after year.
