CAPE MAY, NJ – Naval Air Station Wildwood (NASW) Aviation Museum will hold a Coast Guard Celebration event Aug. 2. The event will celebrate the U.S. Coast Guard’s 224th birthday and also recognize Cape May County’s recent designation as an official Coast Guard Community.

The Museum will offer free admission to Coast Guard members and their families, and free shuttles will run from Pennsylvania Ave in Cape May (near Training Center Cape May) to the Museum from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A short ceremony and cake-cutting will take place at 12 noon. The Museum’s 41’ utility boat, donated and restored by the Coast Guard, will be open for guests to explore. New Coast Guard-related displays will be available for viewing, and visitors can access a Coast Guard Humvee that was used in Afghanistan, which was added to the Museum this winter.

Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum is located inside Historic Hangar #1 at the Cape May Airport, New Jersey. The site was formerly Naval Air Station Wildwood, which served as a World War II dive-bomber training center. The museum is dedicated to the 42 airmen who perished while training at Naval Air Station Wildwood between 1943 and 1945.
