Aviation lovers at Gloucestershire’s Jet Age Museum are flying high after scooping £24,000 in grants.
The windfall will facilitate the completion of the museum’s building at Gloucestershire Airport in Staverton and launch a project to build a Horsa assault glider cockpit replica.
During the Second World War more than 3,600 assault gliders were built under contract by furniture makers throughout the UK to carry airborne troops and equipment during the liberation of Europe.
Gloucestershire played an important role in the assault glider story.
