Palm Springs, CA — Engine sounds for Skipper the Corsair, one of the characters in Disney’s new animated feature, “Planes,”  come directly from the Palm Springs Air Museum, museum Managing Director Fred Bell said in a news release.

In conjunction with the film’s opening on Aug. 9, the Palm Springs Air Museum is doing some special cross promotions:

1. On Aug. 10, from 1  to 3 p.m., visitors can see Skipper, the Corsair in all his glory. The Corsair will also have “Open Cockpit” so visitors can sit in the cockpit of the plane. A gift will be given to all participants on this day.

2. The Palm Springs Air Museum is doing a cross promotion with Cinemark and will have a display in the lobby of the theaters at The River in Rancho Mirage.  Everyone who brings in a “Planes” movie ticket stub will receive 30 percent off general admission to the Palm Springs Air Museum. Offer not valid with any other offer or discount. Promotion is valid through Dec 31.
