CAPE MAY, NJ USA — Naval Air Station (NAS) Wildwood Aviation Museum has recently completed the installation of strategically placed “QR” codes throughout historic Hangar #1. Since its inception as an aviation museum in 1997, NAS Wildwood has integrated technology into the museum experience. The codes consist of black modules (square dots) on a grid with a white background that are easily scanned by smartphones. After the codes are scanned, information will be uploaded to the guest’s phone detailing background history on the Hangar’s interactive displays, exhibits and aircraft. While the concept is not original, NASW is believed to be the only aviation museum in the United States utilizing this technology.

NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum boasts over 26 aircraft displays as well as exhibits of military memorabilia, engines, photographs, interactive exhibits that allow visitors to discover the science of flight and more. Built by the U.S. Navy in 1943, it served as a dive-bomber training facility. The museum is dedicated to the 42 airmen who perished while training at NASW.
