RADAR has been designed to give its readers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the work of the Museum. Many of its visitors live outside the UK and the magazine creates an excellent opportunity to engage with supporters all over the world who cannot visit as regularly as they would like.

The magazine will reveal the stories behind the exhibits and the collection – allowing artefacts to come to light that are not on show to the public as well as extensive photography and images from the archives.

The first edition features an article on the importance of remembering the Dambusters raid, to coincide with the 70th anniversary in May. There is an interview with TV historian James Holland as well as a fascinating profile of the Lightning. Readers will be able to see the top 5 items voted for in the Museum’s upcoming WW1 Exhibition and read about a day-in-the-life of the Museum’s Head of Collections, Ian Thirsk.

RADAR magazine is available to buy in their shop on-site, by subscription online and as a free subscription that is given to members of the Museum.

Peter Dye, Director General of the Museum:

“The RAF Museum is delighted to be launching our first Magazine. We hope to provide useful information and news to our supporters around the world and remind them of the good work that their subscription is going to help support.”
