OSCODA, MI – The Wurtsmith Air Museum will reopen for the season on Saturday, May 18, and is inviting everyone to visit free of charge that day and the next, designated as the second annual Community Appreciation Weekend.
“It’s our way of giving back and giving thanks to our community for their support. Last year’s event was a great family event and we are looking forward to another great opening this year,” said Don Gauvreau, museum chairman.
“We’re especially excited to announce the opening of our Wurtsmith Room, which is dedicated solely to the history of Wurtsmith Air Force Base.  Several of our members worked for the past year to make this display a reality and we are happy to be introducing this display in 2013, 20 years after base closure,” he added.
Community Appreciation Weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.   Anyone with questions may call the museum at 989-739-7555.
